New map helps find physical therapists with MS expertise
October 17, 2023
Persons with MS often cannot get access to physical therapists who specialize in MS and instead go to untrained or unqualified therapists, often with poor results. To address this, the Degenerative Diseases Special Interest Group of the American Physical Therapy Association has developed a Clinician Locator Map that allows persons with MS to search the U.S. to find clinicians with expertise who are close to them.
The map has already been used to help physical therapists find other practitioners. Its usage is now being expanding so it can be accessed by patients as well.
Once the map appears you will be asked to provide information in boxes in the upper right corner on what state you live in and what condition you have (the map is for all types of degenerative conditions in addition to MS). The map is constantly being added to, so the numbers of therapists are always increasing.
